You're in great hands
Deciding to seek counselling might be a scary and overwhelming process. We make it our priority to help people feel comfortable during every appointment, and especially during the first session.
What to expect
When you first reach out to your new therapist, they will review your goals for therapy, scheduling options, and have you fill out consent and information forms. You may also be asked to fill out electronic or paper assessment tools to help track your progress. You and your therapist will decide
During your first few sessions, a history will be gathered which help to paint a fulsome clinical picture. Effective strategies and skills will be introduced, and a treatment plan will be created that focuses on your identified goals as well as areas that your therapist has assessed which can help you meet your therapy objectives. If there is an area that you wish to work on that your therapist isn’t appropriately trained in, you may be referred to someone with specialized training to ensure that you are getting the right care.
As you progress through your goals, your therapist will check in on how you are feeling, acknowledge your progress, and work to identify next steps. Therapy is a collaborative process, so your feedback is essential.
